Document, Photo, Slide and Film Scanning, Restoration & Printing

We all have collections of old family photos, documents, slides and film, which could be many years old and are often in a sorry state. Printed memories could be all we have left of family members and friends and once they start to deteriorate it could be too late to save them. Bring them into TechnoVisual and we will take high quality scans (between 600 and 9800 dpi), using state of the art scanners to digitise and preserve these memories.

Once your images have been digitised, we can save them in a high resolution format (either jpg, pdf or png), which we can send via email using a file sharing program such as WeTransfer or Drop Box, then you can simply click on this link and download the images to your computer.  Alternatively, we can put them onto a DVD or USB and once in this form, your images can then be stored safely, shared or even printed.  Please ask for more information if you are interested in printing any of your images.

YOUR IMAGES SAVED TO DVD - we charge £3.50 (no vat) for a high quality DVD with a professionally printed label in black print.  If you would prefer a full colour print (e.g. one of your images) the cost is £4.50 (no vat) per DVD .

YOUR IMAGES SAVED TO A USB -  we charge £2.00 (no vat) to save your files to a USB or memory stick.  We have many sizes in stock, here are our prices:

Please don't compare us to other companies which make copies for you on standard scanners, the outcome of the slides particularly is never satisfactory.  Our state of the art Perfection Epson scanners capable of scanning up to a resolution of 6400 x 9600 dpi also include advanced DIGITAL ICE technology, giving us the ability to enhance your slides, negatives and photos mid-scan.

35mm Slides

Regular 35mm : Super 35mm : half frame : 126 slides : 110 slides.

Regular Size Slides generally come in plastic or cardboard holders, 2" square (50mm x50mm) and the prices below are for this size slide. 

Other non standard slides can vary in size, e.g. the 110 size has a 1" surround and although the 120 slide has the standard 2" surround it has a large central viewing area and these can not be scanned by our 35mm machines.  We will quote for these separately should you have any.

OUR PROCESSES:

• We will start by sorting your images and then gently cleaning them using lint free cloths, air and brushes, we will try to keep to any obvious orders you give us, but because of our processes it isn't always possible and may mean we need to charge more if we have to work to lists
• Modern flatbed Xerox and Epson scanners are used with a minimum of 600dpi and a maxmum of 9800dpi
• Digital Ice Technology is used where we can to reduce noise, remove surface defects, restore, correct and boost colour and optimise contrast and exposure.

35mm and Medium Format 120 Film Strips/Rolls

 35mm Negatives and Medium format 120 film

TechnoVisual charge one fixed price for colour or black and white negatives, please read the further details regarding our processes and pricing below.  We will discuss discounts for larger quantities.

 

35mm negatives or film strips (colour or monochrome) = 70p per image

Medium Format film (120 colour or monochrome) = £2.00 per image

 

OUR PROCESSES:

* For an additional cost of £25 TechnoVisual can make your images into a slide show and put them onto a DVD for watching on your TV or computer.  With a customised cover these have proved very popular for gifts. (up to 25 images for the price quoted)

 

Important notes for Negatives/film strips:

 

• One Price - We scan Negatives, Positives and Monochrome 35mm negatives all at the same price and we charge per image not per strip, if you have large numbers please call and we may be able to offer a discount.
• Our processes - how we scan the images you require - Negatives come in strips of generally around 4 - 6 images and it is far easier for us to scan every image on every strip. However, we do appreciate that you may not want every image digitised and we are happy to omit the odd image if this is required. You can send or bring in a list of image numbers to be scanned and generally you will find numbers written for this purpose on the film edging.  However matching up numbers to those listed on the film is a long laborious process and we would always charge extra for this service. Alternatively, you could cut out just the images you require to be scanned, although we strongly advise that you avoid touching the surface of the film and either hold at the very edge of negative or use lint free gloves.  
•  Must be Processed - Your film must have been processed before we can scan it, we do not carry out dark room processing.
•  Image Order and Numbering- We will do all we can to stick to an obvious order, however there are influences that couldchange this e.g. different types/sizes may need to go through different scanners, some images may need to be scanned twice etc, so we advise that the best way to put images in a particular order is to rename/re-order the images in digital format when you receive them back from us. The scanning process will number each image in series and we will cross reference folder names if required.
  
•  Card Mounted Film -Please remove any stickers or mounts attached to the negatives - additional fees may need to be charged to remove these. Films should be in sleeves or loose.
•  Dirty Film - We avoid touching any film or negative images and use air blowers, lint free cloths and brushes to remove surface dust and dirt before scanning, but if the film is dirty or sticky we can not add liquid of any kind to remove this and it may be visible on the scans. We use top of the range scanners and 'Digital Ice' software to reduce the amount of dust/scratch marks on the digital image but we can not 100% guarantee that all marks will be removed.

Loose Photographs or Documents - small

Up to A5 in size.

Base 600dpi scan and basic enhance, we will also crop to non specific size if required and save as jpg.  This is ideal for photos, which are in good condition and are unmounted. This is the most popular option for digitising your precious images and most photos will not need more than this.  You will need to bring in your photos or send them via mail and sending the finished files can be done via email (usually a file sharer such as WeTransfer) or we can supply a CD or DVD or a USB stick. Large Format Photos, Canvas Artwork and Film

For very large prints, documents and artwork, which is too big to scan, we will use other methods for capturing your image using our photography studio at very high resolution.  The price shown below, is for high quality, highest resolution capture, so that your image cropped and digitised ready for safe storage or printing. Supplying one set of your photos, slides or documents, can either be done via email, usually using a file sharer programme such as WeTransfer, or we can supply them:
